Debt Settlement
Debt Settlement - If you don’t want to declare bankruptcy or do any sort of
debt consolidation, you should think about a debt settlement instead. There are
a lot of different advantages that this will give you, among which are less
debt, a better credit record than if you declared bankruptcy, and you may not
have to pay off all of your debt.
A big advantage of doing this is that you won’t have to worry about being
harassed about your debt any longer. Instead of calling you directly, your
creditors will have to talk to the debt settlement company. After all, it’s
the company that will be in charge of negotiating better terms. This is
especially helpful if you have been feeling harassed by creditors over your
outstanding debts. Since your creditors no longer have any reason to contact
you, you can press charges if they continue to do so.
A debt settlement is far better than declaring bankruptcy because this simple
action could harm your credit for years to come. Once that’s happened,
you’ll find it difficult to get loans and other lines of credit in the future.
While debt consolidation can help you to avoid bankruptcy as well, this as the
disadvantages of time and money – essentially, you’ll have to pay some money
on interest fees with a debt consolidation loan, and since the monthly payments
are low to allow you to keep from missing them, it’s highly likely that
it’ll take several years for you to pay off your debts.
What will a debt settlement do for you? Essentially, through negotiating with
your creditors, the people who you get to settle your debts will be able to
change the amounts you owe. This way, you’ll only have to pay a small part of
what you would be paying ordinarily. This saves you time, since you’ll be able
to pay off what remains of your debt right away, and it saves you money since
you’ll be paying far less over all.
If you don’t want to wait for debt consolidation to finally eliminate your
debt, or if you don’t want to declare bankruptcy, settling your debts may be
your best option.
